House concert network Live in Your Living Room is established in 2002 and has organized almost 200 house concerts in over 150 different private livingrooms throughout the bigger cities of The Netherlands and Belgium in our field of houseconcerts programming alternative popmusic, singer/songwriters or smaller acoustic bands.

In the coming period of Sep 13-20 2009 Live in Your Living Room will organize the Live in Your Living Room NYC Festival in New York City. In this period, we will organize seven concerts at seven different locations across the City of New York, each night with a bill of a NYC-based acts and/or one or two acts from The Netherlands.

Relations between NYC and The Netherlands are celebrated this year. The occasion is that it has been 400 years since Dutch settlers first arrived at Manhattan, founded New Amsterdam, and helped in the years after shape the cultural blueprint of the later NYC (freedom of speech, religion, also the spirit of merchants, the banking system, tolerance, etc.). This occasion is celebrated through a variety of different cultural events. F.e., in the week of 8-13 September crown-prince of The Netherlands, Willem Alexander and princess Maxima will formally open a pavillion in Battery Park, showing the history of Amsterdam settlers in the city of New York. 

We think it completely would be in the spirit of these celebrations with house concerts billing both NYC-artists and artists from The Netherlands. The Live in Your Living Room NYC Festival is a distinctive cultural event to celebrate the Hudson-year by bringing live-music by New York artists and Dutch artists in the intimacy of the homes of New Yorkers.
